Intro To Psychology 3 Credits
Seton Hall University
AMTI brings a college-level Introduction to Psychology course directly into participating high schools through its collaboration with Seton Hall University. Students explore the scientific study of human behavior and mental processes through major areas of psychology, including research methods, human development, the brain and behavior, consciousness, sensation and perception, learning, memory, motivation, emotion, personality, stress, psychological disorders, therapy, and social influence.
This is a true college-level academic experience—not simply an overview of psychology. Students complete exams, quizzes, written assignments, psychological research article reviews, and an APA-style research project. They learn how to develop research questions, evaluate scientific studies, analyze information, and communicate their findings effectively. Students who successfully satisfy the course requirements earn three college credits from Seton Hall University while gaining valuable experience with the expectations and responsibilities of college-level coursework—all within the supportive environment of their high school.
